Our Story

IN THE BEGINNING

Since the age of 2, Devyn Scott, owner of Mercury Dance Academy, has had a deep passion for dance. She has trained in various disciplines and competed on numerous platforms, achieving both individual and team success throughout her career. Devyn's love for dance has led her to mentor and teach dancers of all ages, both in the studio and in academic settings.

Her passion for dance and teaching sparked the idea of opening a dance studio—an idea that quickly turned into a dream, and eventually a reality with the founding of Mercury Dance Academy. Devyn comes from a strong dance family who has supported her throughout her career and continues to be a vital part of this family-run business.

MERCURY FAMILY TRADITION

At Mercury Dance Academy, we believe that dance is about more than just movement—it’s about the relationships and connections that are built along the way. While our dancers are at the heart of everything we do, we also place a strong emphasis on creating a sense of community that extends to their families and friends.

With years of experience in the dance world, our dedicated teachers and staff understand the value of fostering a supportive and unified environment. We know that this not only impacts our dancers' lives but also the lives of their families. We are committed to nurturing this sense of belonging both inside the studio and beyond—whether at competitions, community dance events, or in everyday interactions.

Our promise is to provide a nurturing environment that prioritizes both the physical and mental well-being of our students, ensuring that they grow in a safe, professional, inclusive, and fun atmosphere.

COMMUNITY MINDED

We strive to be a community based Studio and believe in providing an opportunity for everyone to dance.  On top of our Competitive and Recreational programs we also launched Our Mini Mercury program for younger children under 4 years old and Adult classes for 18 years and older.   We are also very proud to be one of the first studios in Durham Region to offer Inclusion classes, which is a very popular and successful program for dancers with disabilities and mobility concerns.  We believe in opportunity and inclusion for all.
